Propeller Shafts, Drive Shafts, and Similar Shaft Type Parts

Propellor Shafts and Prop Gear Casing

First and foremost, we have been dedicating countless hours and resources toward our cleaning, polishing, and storage processes since the day we opened the doors. Having been in many shops as well as “parts businesses” over the years, I knew from day one that I wouldn’t be willing to settle for the way things have always been done. So, while most parts businesses list it dirty and throw it on a shelf to rust, we spend hours every day preparing each and every part , then carefully oiling and often wrapping the parts one at a time so you can be sure that what you see in the picture is what you receive.

Propshafts and driveshafts go through a long process of cleaning and polishing prior to being inspected. Every shaft is put on a lathe and painstakingly cleaned and polished. During this process, the shaft is measured for straightness. Any shaft that is more that .002 in. out is either straightened or discarded. The bearing surfaces are carefully polished and inspected to ensure that there is no corrosion on the bearing surface that would inhibit long-term use. Our goal is that when you buy a shaft from us, it is as close to perfect as possible. While light bearing marks are often acceptable, any excessive pitting or grooving on the bearing surface is as unacceptable here as it will be with you. We also inspect threads and splines to ensure that they are straight and suitable for future use. Each shaft is then oiled for storage.
