First and foremost, we have been dedicating countless hours and resources toward our cleaning, polishing, and storage processes since the day we opened the doors. Having been in many shops as well as “parts businesses” over the years, I knew from day one that I wouldn’t be willing to settle for the way things have always been done. So, while most parts businesses list it dirty and throw it on a shelf to rust, we spend hours every day preparing each and every part , then carefully oiling and often wrapping the parts one at a time so you can be sure that what you see in the picture is what you receive.
As a general rule, our first test is on the engine. We’ll test for spark. When we bring an engine in, we’re looking for the known problem. As an example, if you know the engine was run without oil and the pistons have scored the cylinders, you know the problem. When the engine will still turn over, we hook it up and test for spark. If we have spark, that’s actually enough of a test 99.9% of the time. If for any reason we don’t have spark, we start testing what we can. Stators, triggers (timer bases), and coils can be resistance checked on the bench. If they have good resistance, they’re good. Powerpacks, CDI modules, switchboxes, and CDM’s cannot be tested on the bench at the shop level. If someone tells you they’re testing them, they’ve either got more experience than we do or they’re lying. With that in mind, a spark test will have told us they were working when that was possible. Either way, every electronic item we sell is guaranteed to be in working condition. If for any reason it is not, just contact us and we’ll replace or refund, as necessary. Aside from the testing, we go over every wire to inspect for any damage whatsoever. Generally, any cut, burnt, or broken wire means that we discard the part. Stators, switchboxes, power packs, etc…are checked over for signs that they have been hot and discarded accordingly. We try to be very careful with electronics initially, and stand behind our products if any issue should arise.
