| Condition | Used, works perfectly. The unit has been pressure-tested and is holding pressure. It turns over smoothly and had no signs of metal or water in the gearcase. |
| Additional Info | The unit is in good overall shape. It's older, so the paint is worn. There are 13 splines on the driveshaft, and there are 15 splines on the propshaft. The propshaft has a little bit of wear from something rubbing against it, probably during transport. We ran a prop on it, though, and the prop still slides smoothly down and holds just fine. This is pretty minor. We've tried to take good, close pictures to help identify and let you know the condition of the drive but if there's anything else we can help with, don't hesitate to contact us. The only thing that is not checked on lower units is the condition of the impeller. We advise changing impellers anytime you replace a lower unit. If you call in your order, we can give you a price and timeframe for a new impeller and we will install a new impeller for you at cost. This is a service to you and we are happy to provide it for no additional labor charge. |
| Fits: | This is a Pre-Alpha Lower Outdrive. It was removed from a 1967-1969 160 model and fits from at least 1967-1977 160 and 165 HP models. Technically, it should interchange with a lot more outdrives, but I'm not an outdrive expert and do not want to lead you down the wrong path on this so if you don't know more than I do, please consult a Mercury dealer prior to purchase |
