| Item Description | Good used lower unit taken off of a 1989 Mercury 40 HP motor. This unit does need a shift rod reseal. We offer to replace the seal for you for the cost of the parts only, we will not charge for labor. Please call at the time of order for an estimate on parts. This unit does have some cosmetic issues such as paint scratches, rubs, chips and fading (as you can see in the pictures). This is a longshaft lower unit, the driveshaft measures 20-1/2" from the top of the waterpump housing to the end of the driveshaft. The driveshaft has 11 splines, prop shaft has 13, and the shift rod has 6 splines. All splines are in good condition. Theres a few nicks in the housing and on the skeg and what appears to be white paint on the waterpump housing, but none of that should affect the use of the lower unit. You will need to add oil, as it has been drained for testing and shipping, and a new impeller, which we always recommend on any used lower unit. |

If you call in your order, we can give you a price and timeframe for a new impeller and we will install a new impeller for you at cost.
