From what we can get a cross reference on, this part number preceeded and superceedes several times. The only numbers that I can get any information on though are 818535A15 and 398-5454A25. Those years and horsepowers are as follows:
1980-1989 - 40, 45 and 50 HP 1989-1997 - 40 HP
This may fit other engines. However, the cross-reference above is all we pulled up with the Mercury Electronic Parts Catalog. If you intend to use this on any other engine, please speak with a Mercury dealer or mechanic before purchasing.
