This powerhead came in loose from a Mercury dealer. We didn’t get a story on it but upon opening it, we found it to be freshly rebuilt or at least very recently done. The pistons have the lightest trace of carbon but they are standard. There’s no scoring. The head gaskets looked like new. There is no buildup or corrosion in the waterjacket. This powerhead is in great condition. This powerhead has been changed. It was originally an XR6. The intake has been changed so it’s set up as an XRI. If you want this to be an XR6, you’ll have to change the intake back but I don’t believe there are any other changes. We went ahead and pulled another flywheel and starter in order to run a compression check. Our readings are below:
It should have new head gaskets but otherwise, we believe this powerhead is ready to install. Please note that we will not accept returns for this item. Please be absolutely sure this is the correct one for your motor prior to purchasing. |
