7741A2 Mercury 1979-1985 Complete Powerhead Assembly 90 HP Inline 6

• This is a Mercury inline 6 powerhead. 
• It was removed from a 90 HP motor, S/N 5435933. 
• It came in loose and in unknown condition. 
• I couldn’t run a compression check at that juncture so the side plates on each side were removed to check for scoring. 
• What I found was that this powerhead is in excellent condition, particularly for the age. 
• There is no scoring to be found on the pistons. 
• The engine turns over nice and smooth with no bearing slop. 
• There’s exceptionally little carbon and no corrosion, which is extremely rare for a powerhead this age. 
• I firmly believe that this is ready to install.
• This is missing the side covers and does not come with any of the mounting hardware.
• Also, you will need new gaskets for this powerhead.

This is a non-distributor engine.  I have been told that you could take the front half of an older block (distributor style) and interchange it with this back half and that they’d work correctly.  PLEASE verify that with your mechanic.  I’ll guarantee the condition of the powerhead.
