This is a Sierra 18-5856 stator, built as an aftermarket replacement for Mercury 398-5255.
We are not big proponents of most aftermarket parts. Sierra is the exception: a nationally recognized marine brand with a long, proven record of building excellent replacement parts, and not to be confused with the low-cost imports sold by many sellers today.
This one is new old stock, bought from a marine shop that closed or downsized. The warranty comes from us: Southcentral Outboards covers it for a full year from the date of purchase.
