| Additional Info | We put more time and attention to detail into crankshafts than anyone in our industry, period! After spending a great deal of time consulting with professional crank builders and repair shops, we believe that our process is second to none. The counterweights are glass-beaded, which relieves stress from the part as well as all of the old grease and grime. The journals are inspected and checked with a micrometer for runout. After a crankshaft has been accepted, the journals and bearing surfaces are micro-polished to like new condition. The splines are all cleaned out and when the crank is in like-new condition, it is treated with a protective corrosion inhibitor for storage. The standard in this industry for wear on a crankshaft is that anything more than .001 or 1/1000th of an inch is cause for rejection. The standard for our shop is .0005, which is ½ of 1/1000th. We have exceptionally strict standards at Southcentral Outboards because you put in far too much time and money in a rebuild to use some junk crank that some guy in his garage tore out of an engine and threw online to make a few dollars. You will need to use some of your old needle bearings. There are supped to be 24 and this only comes with 15. |
