For sale is a good working lower unit for Mercury inline 6 engines from 1970-79. The unit has been pressure checked and holds pressure. It will need a new impeller.
The driveshaft measures 20-3/4" from the top of the water pump to the end of the shaft, making this a long shaft. There are 15 splines on the propeller shaft and 8 splines on the driveshaft. Please note that there are holes in the cavitation plate, where a planing fin once sat. The skeg is ground down from running up the dock with it. Due to shipping restrictions, lower unit are shipped without gear oil, please add before use. Purchase with confidence!
As you can see, this unit is rough around the edges. The cavitation plate has multiple holes as well as a chip out of it. The skeg is worn down. On the other hand, it is mechanically flawless. It shifts in and out of gear. There's no metal in it and it holds pressure. If you are looking for a discount unit, this may be the one.
