This unit is in overall good condition and will make a great replacement. We did open and inspected the internals of of unit and the gears and clutch dog look good and are in good condition. This has the shear-pin style propeller shaft and is a splitcase unit. From the top of the water pump, the driveshaft measures approximately 17" long, making this a short shaft unit. There are 4 splines on the driveshaft, all of which are in good shape with minimal wear. This unit will need a new impller and seals. Unit turns and shifts smoothly. 

Also, the unit has been drained of oil and will need to be added prior to installation. There are some minor dings and bends along the cavitation plate. The paint is worn and scuffed in some areas, but is entirely cosmetic. This will come exactly as pictured and will make a great replacement for your outboard!

We do not take returns on incorrectly ordered items. If you are unsure whether this is the correct lower unit and correct length driveshaft for your application please contact us and we will be happy to help you buy the correct product. This product is still covered by the mechanical warranty, offered in exchange for your core, that we have stated in the listing.

To obtain the 6 month warranty, you MUST send in your core lower unit. We will even pay to have your core shipped to us! Below is the criteria required to validate the warranty:

  • Core must be of rebuildable quality
  • Cannot be locked up - driveshaft must spin
  • Up to 30 days from the date of purchase to send in your core
  • Covers mechanical aspects ONLY
  • Warranty begins from date of purchase
  • Core must be complete and cannot be missing parts

You will receive two copies of the terms and conditions for the lower unit 6 month warranty. One copy MUST be signed and returned with your core. Without a returned signed copy, the 6 month warranty will not be valid.
